2008 OffBeat Best of the Beat Winners (Best Emerging Band)
Los Po-Boy-Citos formed in the fall of 2006 in a Garden District living
room in New Orleans, Louisiana. Armed with crates of boogaloo records
and surrounded by New Orleans music in the streets and in the clubs, they
cooked up Spanish Harlem Latin funk with New Orleans soul and R & B. The result was
Los Po-Boy-Citos, New Orleans Latin Soul.
In April 2010, Los Po-Boy-Citos were recognized by the Gambit Weekly
as the Best Latin Band in New Orleans. They rode that success to a
raucous performance at the 2010 Louisiana Jazz and Heritage Festival.
The summer of 2010 saw the recording of their second full-length
release, Brand New Dance.
